True, I usually don't mind the 20%/turn unless I'm fighting many units and covering large distances. Then when the plane is finally healthy, the front has moved 2 cities and 2 turns away.
Yes, my carriers are supply ships. But healthy planes fill a slot on the carrier for 1 turn. Repairing a plane fills a slot for a complete rotation of the squadron.
(though it does mean the plane stays at the front)
Soon I am supporting "hospital carriers" full of hurt planes - very expensive. Designing a plane that gives maximum attack for this cost is tricky.
