These are not meant as real ideas for changes in the game since they are pretty much altering the game into a new one like a C-Evo II. But probably even more than that. Just ideas I have thought of.
A} The end is not the end....
Should the player build a colony ship before defeating all the opponents, have the ship GO somewhere (i.e.: Alpha Centauri begins!) Other nations continue until they build their own ships (one can assume you left entirely, and that they steal your tech so they can get there faster) and they start showing up on the new world.
The problem here is it would require a whole new extended tech tree and in essence would be a second game. Still, it would be nice if say, you get there and humans are not alone.
B) MAD
Nukes bring warmth, and death. I know that the game does not have them for a very understandable reason, when you get them in this turn based game, you win! No reason not to use them. No global change, no real political threat you cannot handle, you have nukes! Strike first and win.
BUT! Take a lesson from Rise of Nations! Defcon! And real MAD, have nukes (and let them get more powerful as tech comes), but only let them launch when political tensions are high and if you launch all others launch (could have to target before hand, and if a nation discovers they are in the scope, tension rise).
When they fall, it is not the end, but all nations that have X% of their cities hit go into double length anarchy and come out as despotism, lose X random techs. Global change (which would really put this game above and beyond) such as Global Warming (which could already happen from pollution, but again this is all very extra) which turns tiles to less useful and even hostile terrain. Perhaps to dead lands (but then it should be permitted with enough tech, perhaps available only after a nuclear attack, to terraform them). An immediate change in tiles near blast of course.
C) Global Change
First, Global cooling in the early industrial phase with pollution, then warming as they go clean but before they go green. Changes in tiles can occur however, or even no change and just population decline and riots as the environment gets too far out of whack for life to live.
D) Space, the final frontier!
More space tech, the ability to put satellites in space to observe larger and larger ares as tech grows. Space platforms to allow aircraft to 'drop in' where needed. Space stations that allow nation wide material, research, and food production. I know these are really just pushing some things, but they are just outrageous ideas after all.
E) You can be Communist and Democratic at the same time!
Divide up government. One be your government (Democracy, Republic, Monarchy, etc...), and the other be your economy (Communism/Socialism, Free Market/Capitalism, Green, Primitive, etc...).
F) Power to the people!
Allow some more mechanical properties of the game to be modified in text files. Tech, buildings, wonders, game limit, etc.... This would obviously open it up to create a lot more mods, rather than changing the tribes and letting aliens reinvent the wheel.
These are just ideas I have been thinking of over time. Just for fun and show. I would not expect any of this to show up for C-Evo any version. Only I could hope in a C-Evo 2 or similar enterprise. I wish I had more programming experience, but that is what my education is for.
