Still having difficulties after reading the manual...

: I'm playing on "easy" with only four countries. I figure that's about as easy as it gets. I lag behind everyone, based on their technology as represented by types of armaments mostly. I've varied the order of technologies acquired, but usually go: wheel, horseback, bronze. (I've varied this so much that's just a generalization.) I vary the tax/technology slider attempting to maximize technology at or near 100%. Governments: monarchy to fundamentalism.
